Broken Float Switch In Northfield, MA
Challenge
This customer from Northfield, MA kept hearing his sump pump running. Although it can be a good sign to hear the sump pump function properly, if it is constantly running then it could be an area of concern. This can lead to the whole system overheating and breaking down which can be very costly. To avoid this problem, we sent a service technician to perform a maintenance check.
Solution
Once the technician arrived to the house, he began by completely clearing out all the debris left in the sump pit since that can cause it to clog. After, he opened up the system and examined each mechanical part intently. He noticed that the float switch was broken, forcing it to stay on the "on" position. This was the root cause of the sump pump always running, so once the technician switched out the float switch, the noise was not occurring as often anymore! This delivered a peace of mind for the homeowner, as he won't have to hear his sump pump while he enjoys his home!
