Charlestown, RI Crawl Space Encapsulation
Challenge
Stephen contacted us to take care of his crawlspace in his second home. We had been in contact with him for a couple years but when they decided to move there full time, he knew the damp crawlspace was the first thing he needed to address. He had used a concrete insulation in his previous home but after meeting with his system design specialist, Derek, he realized that it would not be the proper solution.
Solution
The first step to fixing this nasty crawlspace was to remove the debris and to level it out. This meant removing trash, rocks, and wood. We put our SilverGlo panels on the wall of the crawlspace. These panels are unique because they are made of tiny graphite particles which permeate its foam insulation to give it the "silver glow" and shine. These tiny particles reflect heat and lower the material's conductivity for a superior R-value. In addition to resisting heat conduction, it also reflects heat back into your crawlspace for ultimate energy savings. We then wrapped the piers and exposed dirt with our CleanSpace vapor barrier which is a 20 mil plastic. Finally, we spray foamed the rim joists to minimize air flow in and out of the crawlspace. Now Stephen is excited to move into his home on the beach knowing his crawlspace was handled by professionals!
