Floor Repair Solution Above a Crawl Space in Marshfield, MA
Challenge
When this homeowner from Marshfield, MA noticed how uneven his floor was and began to question the structural integrity of it. He had severe back issues and wasn't able to look at the issue himself, so he reached out to us to save his floor!
Upon the arrival, the inspector went into the crawl space to measure the relative humidity, take measurements of the floor and look closely at the rotting support beam. From this, the inspector discovered that this crawl space had become so humid from all of the moisture getting in, it caused the wood to rot under this crawl space. The inspector then proposed that we install SmartJacks below this sagging floor to ensure it stays up for years to come. Our SmartJacks are made of galvanized steel to avoid corrosion, they can also be adjusted if future settling occurs. After discussing the details, the homeowner said yes to the proposal and was awaiting the transformation!
Solution
On the day of the installation, our production team located the weakened floor support, installed 8 SmartJacks below 2 separate wooden beams. So 4 SmartJacks were placed under each beam. Once the system was secured in place, the crew twisted each SmartJack to raise the floor back to the correct level! After the installation process was done, the homeowner was extremely happy walking on his floor and feeling the immediate impact our SmartJacks made!
