Preventing Future Foundation Settlement in Wrentham, MA
Challenge
A homeowner in Wrentham, MA had exciting plans to finish his basement but there was one major obstacle in the way. His foundation was settling vertically since the soil around his home had been shifting over the years. This issue wasn't so noticeable until his floors felt uneven and he started to see foundation wall cracks forming. From this observation, he called us because he heard about our foundation wall repair systems. Our appointment center was able to schedule one of our inspectors to visit his home to determine the best possible solution.
Once the inspector arrived, he observed the foundation wall cracks, used a laser to see how uneven the floors were and measured the length and width of the basement. After, the inspector concluded that our PushPier system would be perfect for stabilizing this foundation in place to prevent future structural damages. This is our steel, permanent solution that secures foundations in place. After all of the paper work was discussed and agreed upon, it was time for the PushPiers!
Solution
Weeks later our production crew arrived with 7 PushPiers. To install these saviors, we had to dig around the foundation to gain access to the the footing. Once the footing was accessible, steel brackets were anchored onto the footing. Through these brackets, we pushed down steel piers using hydraulic machines until bedrock was reached. This creates the perfect frame needed to transfer the weight in order to stabilize everything. To transfer the weight, we connected each bracket with hydraulic pumps to distribute the weight from the foundation to the soil. Once the stabilization was done, the homeowner was happy with the immediate impact of staying in place. Now, this foundation will remain steady for years to come!
