Securing Bowing Basement Walls in East Sandwich, MA
Challenge
When this customer in East Sandwich, MA contacted us, she told us that the structural integrity of her home could be in trouble. She and her husband saw the horizontal crack expand as time progressed. This caused the one side of the foundation wall to bow inward causing stress to everybody living in the household.
To provide the best solution to this problem, our appointment center set up a consultation for one of our inspectors to do a thorough assessment of the foundation. He took measurements within the foundation and observed how big the horizontal crack was. From this observation, the inspector proposed to install PowerBraces along this bowing wall to secure it in place. He informed the homeowner that these steel I-beams are long lasting, durable and can be adjusted if the he ever wanted to straighten the wall. After discussing the details, the homeowner agreed to the job because he just wanted his worries to vanish!
Solution
On the day of the installation, our production team brought in 5 PowerBraces to anchor onto the bowing wall. Each of them were drilled into the ground while the top portion was attached to the floor joists. This creates a perfect frame to hold the walls in place to prevent future bowing. Once the walls were in place, the homeowner was extremely thankful and was relived that his foundation concerns were finally gone!
