PowerBrace Project in Westwood, MA
Challenge
This homeowner from Westwood, MA noticed horizontal cracks that ran along his foundation walls. He called us because he wasn't sure if the walls were bowing in or not, and wanted a professional to take a look. Our inspector arrived to the home and observed the foundation closely. He took measurements, used a level to see how uneven the floor and walls were and concluded that the walls were in fact bowing in. Bowing walls can lead to many issues such as structural damage, wall and floor cracks and the horizontal cracks that this homeowner saw.
From this observation, the inspector proposed to secure the bowing walls with our PowerBrace wall support solution. The homeowner looked through all the details and agreed upon the proposal.
Solution
To begin, our production team anchored several steel I-beams onto the wall and secured them by drilling the base into the floor. For the top, they used metal brackets to attach the beam to the floor joists. Once all the beams were properly installed, this wall was no longer going to bow in! The homeowner was extremely relieved to see his walls secured permanently so that he doesn't have to worry about them ever again.
