Lifting A Settling Foundation in North Kingstown, RI
Challenge
This customer in North Kingstown, RI noticed several red flags about his foundation. A portion of the floor seemed uneven and there were severe wall cracks in his basement wall causing water to easily seep in. He reached out to us for a permanent solution that will fix the damage and stabilize his home back to place.
After reaching out to us, we sent over one of our inspectors to take a look at this foundation. The inspector observed how big the wall cracks were, confirming that the soil around the home was causing foundational movement. After assessing the problem in person, the inspector proposed to lift and stabilize this foundation by installing our PushPier system which is made to provide the best support for homes. The homeowner didn't hesitate to say yes, and was eager to see the transformation occur.
Solution
To begin this process, the soil around the home was excavated to that we were able to access the bottom of the footing. Then, they placed metal brackets at each point that the inspector suggested. Each bracket is a station for our team to drive steel piers down until they reach bed rock. Once the piers were driven down at each bracket point, we connected each of them with a hydraulic machine to transfer this homes weight to the piers and onto the soil. From there, the piers were able to lift this settling foundation back to its original level and stabilized it in place!
The homeowner expressed a lot of gratitude after we saved his foundation. He was so glad to have reached out to us so that he and his family can enjoy their home for years to come!
