Unstable Foundation in Townsend, MA
Challenge
This homeowner in Townsend, MA noticed multiple red flags in his basement. There were foundation cracks and a door was not fitting squarely into the frame. Concerned about his foundation as a whole, he called our appointment center because he was curious on how this issue can be solved. When foundations begin to sink, it can cause severe issues such as water intrusion or creating more cracks. This home needed some stabilization, and our systems design specialist went to the residence to go over a plan.
Solution
The plan was simple but meticulous. He suggested we stabilize the foundation using Push Piers, which are our hydraulic driven piers that attach to a bracket to stabilize this sinking floor. At the time, the homeowner wasn't ready to have all of this work to be done on his house since he was going to have guests over. He was still very curious on the process, and the systems design specialist informed him of the meticulous, yet straight forward process.
We'd begin by excavating the soil around the foundation, since it wasn't just one portion that was sagging down, it was the whole thing! After, they would place the piers and brackets in, and use hydraulic force to distribute the weight. Once the foundation would be finally stabilized, the worries of a sinking foundation would fade away!
We understand that having our crew around might get in the way of their guest visiting, but we made sure that our company is always there for this homeowner. Now that we looked at his house, if he ever wanted our services, we'd be very familiar with the foundation already!
