Total Crawlspace Transformation in Wakefield, RI
Challenge
This home in Wakefield, RI was without a tenant for a while. The property owner contacted DryZone to determine what was causing issues in the crawlspace with moisture, mildew smells, and dampness. Our inspector, Steve, had been out to review this property in the past for other concerns, but things unfortunately did not improve with time. The exposed dirt floor was creating an issue with dampness and moisture, which could allow for mold and mildew growth if left untreated. Events of heavy rainfall and melting snow were causing a high water table in an already coastal area, so water intrusion is an ever-present threat for this crawlspace, as well.
Solution
By quoting and installing our CleanSpace vapor barrier encapsulation system with drainage matting, this creates two protective barriers between the dirt floor and the inside of the crawlspace. Drainage matting has small, divet-like pockets to act as drainage for any moisture or water beneath the crawlspace, and also adds a bit of insulation between the CleanSpace and the ground. Our SilverGlo insulation - both foam board and spray foam - will help regulate the temperature within the crawlspace by sealing out any potential leaking air from the outside. The more you can control the interior environment, the better! Our SaniDry Sedona will help in a similar regard, by regulating the relative humidity within the crawlspace. Our Mold-X spray will treat existing spores and eliminate them, while preventing new spores from growing. And our SuperSump Plus with added UltraSump 4 battery powered back up pump will take care of any water that seeps in, pumping it up and away from the home's foundation. Having all these systems in place should ensure that this crawlspace has no further issues, and that the living space above will be dry and comfortable!
