Crawl Space Humidity Issue in Harwich Port, MA
Challenge
A customer from Harwich Port, MA wanted to resolve his humidity issue he was experiencing in his crawl space. The air was uncomfortable to breathe in, he noticed a strange odor and he wasn't able to safely store items down here. He was looking for a vapor barrier solution, but didn't want to use a cheap plastic wrap from the hardware stores. After doing intensive research, he landed on our page and called the appointment center for a free estimate.
Solution
Our inspector arrived at his house to deliver the free estimate. The inspector took a careful into the crawl space, measured the relative humidity and proposed that our team encapsulates this crawl space with CleanSpace vapor barrier. This white liner will solve his issue, as this prevents any outside moisture from seeping into this air. The customer agreed without hesitation, knowing this will turn things around into a positive direction.
Upon the day of our installation, our production crew prepped the area by cleaning out any debris or rotting insulation. This allows a clean and safe working environment. Then, they laid out a drainage matting that will allows any water to drain evenly towards the drainage system or sump pump. After, they rolled out the CleanSpace on top to cover the entire floor, ensuring no moisture is able to seep through. Once the encapsulation was complete, this customer noticed a drastic change in the air quality! It felt more dry, leaving him with the excitement that he can finally store items down here without feeling worried!
