Challenge
This crawl space in East Wareham, MA was going through tough days being so humid. The cold dirt floor was bringing in moisture that caused the humidity to rise. Any space in a foundation that's humid can come with numerous of risks. The most common ones being mold growth, musty odors and structural damage.
Our inspector was scheduled to meet up with this homeowner to assess the problem and deliver a proposal. After the inspector was able to crawl around and take measurements, he made a suggestion to seal the interior of this crawl space with CleanSpace vapor barrier. This is our durable white liner that is made to prevent moisture intrusion. So as the amount of moisture coming in decreases, the chances of mold growth, musty odors and structural damage decrease as well!
After discussing the details, an agreement was finally made. From there, our production team was scheduled to arrive weeks later for the transformation!
Solution
Upon the day of the installation, the crew's first step was to clean out any old debris and trash that would hinder their job process. After, they placed down drainage matting all onto the floor to allow any water seepage to drain evenly. Once that was set, they rolled out the CleanSpace and covered the whole floor. In addition, we installed SilverGlo wall insulation to help keep this crawl space at a consistent temperature all year long.
Once the installation was complete, the homeowner was impressed at how clean his crawl space looked. He was glad that his crawl space was now more usable, because before he was paranoid about storing valuable items down there. Now that the humidity in this crawl space is more controlled, this customer can live his life worry-free!
