A Successful Crawl Space Transformation in North Attleboro, MA
Challenge
Moisture is something that can haunt homeowners and they might not even realize it. This homeowner in North Attleboro, MA was able to catch onto this issue before it got worse. He noticed a strange smell coming from his crawl space and come to find out, it was from all of the dirt on the floor. Like many crawl spaces that have a dirt floor, moisture was getting released into the crawl space from the dirt itself. When this combines with the outside humidity, it creates the perfect environment for mold to grow in.
When mold grows onto wooden structures, especially the ones that are supporting the floors, it can be alarming since it weakens the structural integrity. A weakened floor joist could result in a floor collapsing, so this was the time to take the preventative measures!
Solution
Our system design specialist went to the crawl space to discuss the best solution for this homeowner. After taking a look at the space, he determined that encapsulating the area with CleanSpace vapor barrier and installing SilverGlo wall insulation would transform this crawl space. The homeowner agreed to the job after seeing some intriguing before and after photos of previous crawl space jobs!
Afterwards, one of our production crews arrived to the site to begin the transformation. They started by cleaning out the debris that was old and gross. Once that was out of the way, they began rolling out the CleanSpace vapor barrier onto the cold floor. After the floor was completely covered, they placed the SIlverGlo insulation onto the interior walls to finish the job! The CleanSpace will prevent any moisture from the dirt from reaching the air in this crawl space while the SilverGlo provides better insulation for years to come!
This homeowner was shocked at how dry and temperature-controlled his crawl space was after we took care of business! Come to us if you know anybody with a damp crawl space that needs saving!
