Humidity Getting out of Control in East Freetown, MA
Challenge
Humidity was making itself very comfortable in this unfinished crawl space located in East Freetown, MA. The issue was the lack of a vapor barrier and dehumidifier that was causing this area to become damp. When an area is very humid, it creates the perfect breeding ground for mold to grow in. That mold can cause the wood in the crawlspace to rot, which is what's supporting the floor above. If the wood were to completely be overtaken by mold, then the risk of a collapse is very high. This homeowner needed a way to prevent these costly damages from occurring, and to do so, he called us!
Solution
Our system design specialist was sent out to assess this crawl space even more closely. After the assessment was made, he created a plan to dry out this crawl space so that it stays healthy for the years to come. The plan included a full encapsulation of CleanSpace vapor barrier to prevent further damages. CleanSpace was the perfect fit for this job because it'll provide a thick, durable liner to keep out that moisture that was seeping right through.
Our production crew went on to clear out any debris before beginning the process. After, they carefully rolled out CleanSpace to place all over the cold floor. Once that was finished, this crawl space needed some insulation, so we placed SilverGlo wall insulation to help maintain the temperature.
This crawl space looked and felt much different after we serviced it. This homeowner is able to enjoy his days at home with a peace of mind now knowing that his crawl space is in good hands!
