Crawl space repair in Charlestown, RI

Challenge

This property is a small beach cottage with an uneven floor in the crawl space. The customer was concerned with constant dampness and mildew on the upstairs walls from the crawl space. A thin, plastic barrier was on the floor of the crawl space but it was not sealed or installed properly in the past. The customer knew an encapsulated crawl space and dehumidifier was needed to address her issues.

Solution

System Design Specialist, Dan Gallinger, met with the homeowner to tackle these concerns and create a solution for a dry, usable crawl space. They worked together to determine the best solution would be the installation of CleanSpace 20-mil crawl space vapor barrier on the floors and walls of the crawl space and completely sealed to separate the home from the earth. An energy star rated SaniDry CX dehumidifier was installed to control humidty. The crew, lead by foreman Steve daSilva, also installed one SmartJack crawl space stabilizer to support a sagging floor joist.
