Concrete & Stone Wayland, MA Home Gets Waterproofed
Challenge
This home in Wayland, MA had an unfinished basement comprised of concrete floors, stone & mortar and also cinderblock walls in different areas of the basement. When the homeowner contacted our appointment center, he mentioned they were mostly noticing the leaks coming up through the ground, and also through the stone portions of the walls. Porous materials like concrete, stone, and mortar often will give away over continued exposure to moisture, water and dampness - eventually water will find the path of least resistance and enter through these porous foundation materials and into basements and crawlspaces. Luckily, it would only be a short wait for our inspector, Jacob, to come out for an estimate appointment, where he could determine the biggest culprits.
To no surprise of the homeowner or our inspector, different readings and his evaluation determined that the concrete floor and floor joint was likely the biggest culprit of water intrusion. Determining what would be the best solution for this would be the next challenge.
Solution
Luckily, Jacob is a professional and well-versed in the waterproofing profession! With our WaterGuard drainage system, it is designed to capture water from the bottom and the side of the drainage channel, while remaining solid on the top and second side - creating an enclosed area through which the water can flow. By installing this along the wall/floor joints throughout the basement, water would be captured at the source and carried into our TripleSafe sump pump system. Installed in the spot identified to be the lowest point of the basement, gravity does it's fair share of the work pulling the water through the channel and into the TripleSafe liner - where three strong pumps are ready to expel the water from the basement and away from the homes foundation on the exterior!
