Rescuing a Moldy Norton, MA Basement
Challenge
This damp, wet, moldy basement in Norton MA was overcome by issues. Water was seeping in through the foundation, allowing for conditions perfect for mold to grow, and with no way to mitigate the moisture or methods in place to get rid of the water - it sat there causing bigger issues for this family. Insulation in their basement had begun falling down, overcome with moisture, which in turn leaves their basement with no effective form of insulating the floors above. They needed help determining the root cause of the issue, and what the best solution would be so they never had these types of issues again in the future.
Solution
Our team, including inspector Trevor and lead foreman Eric, determined that the best first step would be to treat the mold and mildew that had begun to spread within the basement. For this, they used patented Mold-X2, to tackle and kill any growth and prevent new spores from thriving. Once that was handles, the team installed our WaterGuard sub-floor drainage system along the wall/floor joints of the foundation. The WaterGaurd will help capture the water seeping in, and provide it a channel to redirect it to the TripleSafe sump pump system. The TripleSafe, equipped with a 1/2 HP and 1/3 HP primary & secondary cast iron Zoeller pumps - as well as a battery powered back up pump, will help force that water out of the basement and away from the home. Set up on an elevated stand right beside the TripleSafe is the SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier, which will help eliminate moisture and keep the basement at a normal relative-humidity of 65% - too dry of an environment to allow for mold to grow or thrive in. This basement was cleaner, drier, and now more of a healthy environment for this family to use for storage once more!
