Full Basement Waterproofing Project in Orleans, MA

Challenge

This Cape Cod unfinished, concrete basement was taking on water and flooding during spring and summer rainstorms. The property owners were at a loss with how to resolve the situation, but knew they needed help from a professional, specialized waterproofing company to tackle this project. They could see very clearly water was coming in through where the wall and floor joints meet, and in other spots up through the floor. After calling our office and scheduling a free estimate with Ken - our inspector, Rick, went out to perform a thorough and detailed evaluation of the basement and determine its needs. Rick took the time to answer any and all questions these homeowners had, and went over each product that was being recommended and why, and how it would address their issues.

Solution

A full perimeter WaterGuard drainage system would help capture water that was entering the basement through the wall/floor joint, and up through the concrete foundation floor, by guiding it along a designated channel to our TripleSafe sump pump system. The TripleSafe system is equipped with both a primary and secondary pump (1/3 HP and 1/2 HP respectively), as WELL as a battery-operated back up pump in the event that the two other pumps become overwhelmed, or the water level in the liner rises too quickly. An excellent addition to this set up is the optional extra battery back and battery switcher - providing added battery power in the event the first battery becomes depleted - this setup will automatically switch over to draw power from the spare battery! This is a huge bonus for those periods of extended power-outages during and after large storms and rain events, especially in a coastal area. 

These homeowners also decided to install our CleanSpace Wall basement vapor barrier system - which helps collect moisture and any smaller leaks through the porous concrete foundation walls and direct it straight down into the WaterGuard system - and installed our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier system, which helps regulate and maintain relative humidity within the basement. They are well protected from almost any potential storm situation now, and they can rest assured knowing that our Service Department will reach out with reminders and to help schedule annual maintenance on their systems without having to keep track of it themselves!
