Full Waterproofing System Install in Pembroke, MA
Challenge
This unfinished basement located in a development in Pembroke, MA was suffering from constant water intrusion. When large developments are built, there is a lot of moving around of the land that was there - ripping up trees and plants, etc that would normally absorb some of the water out of the ground can especially affect the area. This particular area happens to be located near some marshy lands, and has different streams and small rivers nearby that can cause the ground to become very saturated - add heavy rainfall or multiple feet of melting snow to the equation, and water ending up in the basement becomes nearly unavoidable.
With this particular home, water was entering through the bare concrete foundation and into the unfinished basement storage space, causing puddling on the floor and an excess of moisture and dampness throughout the entirety of the basement. Something needed to be done to relieve the owners of the stress, so a representative of the Condo Association contacted DryZone for a permanent solution on multiple units at this same development.
Solution
In this particular basement, the best course of action was for DryZone to install our patented WaterGuard perimeter french drain system: this would capture the water that was leaking in from the joint of where the wall and floor meet - which was one of the major areas where our inspector, Trevor, noticed evidence of water intrusion. His next recommendation was to install our TripleSafe sump pump system: equipped with fully cast iron primary and secondary Zoeller pumps, and a battery operated tertiary pump - running out of horsepower in these pumps should never be an issue, and the battery operated back up pump will only engage in the event that the two initial pumps become inundated with so much water that the float switch engages, so the battery is not idly running and waiting to engage. These homeowners will be well protected in the event of heavy rains or storms!
