Saving a Basement from Floods in South Egremont, MA
Challenge
This homeowner in South Egremont, MA has owned this home for 10 years. There was mold and humidity all inside of the basement, causing distress. Whenever basements or crawl spaces become humid with mold growth, damage to the support structure or poor air quality are common. For this basement, this was unfortunately the case. The homeowner made a smart decision reaching out to us for a waterproofing solution. To begin the process, our appointment center scheduled a day for one of our expert inspectors to assess the basement.
Solution
Upon the assessment day, the inspector observed the basement's humidity levels, noticed puddles of water scattered across the floor and saw how porous the walls were. Porous walls tend to allow water in easily due to the openings they leave unfortunately. But our inspector knew the best waterproofing solution for this situation. He proposed to install a SuperSump pumping system and integrate that with our WaterGuard interior drainage system. The drainage system would go around the whole interior perimeter floor to intercept the wall seepage dribbling down. The water would then be channeled to the SuperSump to be pumped out of the basement and into the woods.
After hearing how the system would operate, it was a no brainer to say yes. After the homeowner agreed, our production crew arrived weeks later to begin the transformation. They began by jackhammering a trench along the whole perimeter for the WaterGuard system then proceeded to make a sump pit for the SuperSump. Once everything was in place, they covered the openings with fresh concrete for a clean, complete look! Ever since we transformed this basement, it's remained a dry safe haven!
