Wall Crack Sealed Up In Southwick, MA
Challenge
A homeowner in Southwick, MA saw a wall crack in his basement that he didn't want to ignore for many reasons. If the wall crack becomes bigger, then it could allow more water to get through, which can lead to moisture getting in that can create a strange odor or even mold growth. So it's pretty much a domino effect if the homeowner didn't find a solution. It's almost unavoidable to get basement wall cracks because whenever the foundation moves with the ground, the pressure can create cracks. We had a field technician go to the basement to see how serious the wall crack was. He measured it was about 4 1/2" wide, which is a sign to use FlexiSpan wall crack repair system.
Solution
The technician informed to the customer that our FlexiSpan system was the perfect permanent solution for his wall crack since the sealant can move along with the foundation movements so that it never breaks the seal. To begin, the technician made a drywell hole at the bottom where the crack meets the floor. He placed stone and a FlowGuard in it so that the water drains correctly. Then, he applied a coating of flexible polyurethane onto the crack starting from the top and making his way down. After, he placed over a foam strip that will act as a second barrier incase water gets through the first layer. After, he placed one more layer of polyurethane on top of the foam strip for even more protection. It's safe to say that this homeowner won't be worrying about water leaking through the wall crack in the future.
