Challenge

Since building the home in 2009, small amounts of water would show up in the finished section of the basement. Mold was starting to grow on the walls and furniture. Moisture was a major issue to the customer as well. She wanted to get rid of the musty smell and to have a healthy, dry and usable space in her basement. Our System Design Specialist, Pat Cahill, met with the home owner to discuss these concerns and develop a long-term solution.

Solution

The customer decided to protect the entire basement with a perimeter WaterGuard system. The WaterGuard will direct any water into the SuperSump pump system installed by Foreman, Steve daSilva, and his crew. The crew installed a SaniDry XP Basement Air System to dehumidify and purify the air. This will keep the humidity at a level that does not promote mold growth.

Water would collect on the tile floor. Mold started to grow on furniture and the walls.

The crew removed the lower part of the finished wall and the first section of tile. The mold growth was contained to the lower secton of the wall. The crew installed WaterGuard with crushed stone before putting concrete back over.

The WaterGuard continued into the unfinished section of the basement, leading to the SuperSump pump system. This picture shows the new, wet concrete. This the final step of installation.
