Jamestown, RI Basement Waterproofing
Challenge
In 2013, Todd Lutinski went out to Wendy's daughter, Sydney's home in Jamestown, RI. She had some problems with water and moisture in her basement. Todd fixed her problem and almost 5 years later, her mother is ready to dry out her basement. Wendy had just recently purchased this home and wanted a system that would address any potential leaks and also take care of the moist, musty air in her basement. Todd once again had a solution. There have been many improvements in products since the last time he met with this mother/daughter duo but they knew they were in good hands.
Solution
The approach this time around would be a SuperSump installation with an UltraSump battery back up. A FlexiSpan crack repair for a hairline crack in the foundation as well as our brand new SaniDry Sedona to control moisture and humidity. The SuperSump is one of our finest sump pump systems. It is composed of four main parts. The first being the pump. The SuperSump includes 1/3 horsepower Zoeller cast iron pump with a mechanical float switch. This can pump out 2,650 gallons/hour! The next component of the system is the WaterWatch Alarm. This is a probe that looks like a hockey puck and it is designed to sound an alarm if water rises about the point in the liner where the pump should be turning on. This will alert you that you're about to have an issue so you can prevent it. Next is the SuperLiner. This rugged, heavy duty liner has holes that allow water to flow beneath the floor and can also filter sediment so the pump does not clog. Finally, the Airtight lid. This keeps moisture from evaporating. It also keeps bugs, odors and radon gas out of the basement and/or liner while also quieting the pump.
The next issue to address was the crack in the wall. Our FlexiSpan crack repair system was just the medicine! We seal the crack with a bead of a flexible sealant that will slow and in most cases stop the flow of water through the crack. Next, we cover the sealant with a wide strip of beveled FlexiSpan open cell foam which tucks into a WaterGuard system or a dry well.
The SaniDry Sedona is the world's most powerful dehumidifier for its size. It's energy star rated but remains efficient as it removes 100 pints of water per day from the air.
Wendy was extremely pleased once again with the work Todd and DryZone Basement Systems did for her and her family.
