Wall Crack
This crack in the basement wall caused this Martha's Vineyard homeowner a lot of grief when it rained

Step 1 and 2
First, the crack was sealed with a bead of special flexible sealant that will slow and, in most cases, stop the flow of water through the crack. This photo shows step 2 (since the sealant is not visable). Next, a 3 1/2" wife strip of beveled FlexiSpan open cell foam is applied over the sealant and tucked into our waterproofing system on the floor. *A FlexiSpan can drain to WaterGuard or a drywell if there is no drainage system in place

Step 3
A coat of special sealant is applied over the FlexiSpan foam strip, creating a sealed patch from the top of the crack to the bottom.

Smooth
The sealant is smoothed out over the crack.

Added Protection
This final step, which is not always necessary, is to add a strip of CleanSpace Wall. This is applied in the highly unlikely event that the FlexiSpan leaks, the Cleanspace wall will collect the water and drain it.
