Claddagh Fund Celebrity Hockey Game: Basement Systems vs. Foundation Support Works

The Claddagh Fund, the charitable foundation of the Dropkick Murphys, founded by front man Ken Casey, hosted their first annual Claddagh Fund Cup Celebrity Hockey Game at the Breakaway Ice Center in Tewksbury on May 19th, 2012. Basement Systems of New Hampshire sponsored the event, which featured celebrity coaches Ken Casey and Boston Bruins’ enforcer Shawn Thornton, with Bruins’ Alumni Bob Sweeney, Jay Miller, Rick Middleton and Terry O’Reilly competing with teams Basement Systems and Foundation Works. The event was a great success raising $14,000 to directly benefit charities supported by the Claddagh Fund.

Basement Systems of New Hampshire challenged other Basement Systems dealers to join in and support this national organization by making donations to the event.  The founder and owner of Basement Systems, Inc. Larry Janesky stepped up as a Power Play Sponsor with a $1,500 donation and Foundation SupportWorks, Inc. served as the Team and Jersey Sponsor, also contributing $1,500.  Other sponsors included VIP Sponsors, TC Hafford’s Basement Systems, DryZone Basement Systems, Basement Systems of Calgary and Adirondack Basement Systems.

Ken Casey said, “I’m blessed to have such great people working with the Claddagh Fund and such generous businesses like Basement Systems that step up to the plate and help out with causes such as ours.”

Basement Systems of New Hampshire owner Jim Berube added, “We are thrilled that our fellow dealers and colleagues joined us in contributing to such a dynamic organization.  There is a common desire to give back to our communities and we are honored with the support.”

The Basement System and SupportWorks teams battled it out on the ice while the Old Brigade, an Irish band that opens for the Dropkick Murphys, provided musical entertainment.  Guests enjoyed the game, entertainment, food and beer and wine provided by Cisco Brewers from Nantucket.
